My goal was to compare the themes of World War 2 propaganda posters across the different countries. I scanned several posters for each country from the book I obtained my research from. I pasted the images in my layout, after identifying the appropriate theme. I digitally rendered icons to represent each theme, such as a tank to represent security, and put the icon by the posters. Because of the historical nature of the subject matter I wanted to use the geometric san serif typeface Akzidenz-Grotesk, for an industrial feel. Lastly, I used printmaking paper stock to pay tribute to the traditional method of printing posters in the 1940’s.
